If you've ever thought of buy a robot vacuum now is the time to get one. CNET's best-rated models will be on sale during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with discounts up to 57%..

The Roborock Q7 Max is a powerful robot that has smart mapping and app-based no-go zones. Its run time of 180 minutes is impressive. It also automatically refills and self-empties its water tank.

1. iRobot Roomba j7+

The Roomba J7+, IRobot's smartest robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its most notable innovation, however, is its camera-based obstacle-detection system. It uses AI to detect objects such as charging cords and shoes. It's also the first robot to automatically send you a photo of any object it encounters to let you know to avoid it in the future.

The Combo J7+ is the most effective mop-bot we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt with ease while leaving no trace it was there. The iRobot app makes it easy to control. It can schedule cleanings and create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't vacuum in areas that you don't would like. It's also compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can start and stop it with your voice.

Its design is also an improvement over the rest with a sleek top piece that looks more like a toy robotic than a loud, obnoxious one. Clean Base's Automatic Dirt removal System is also self-emptying which can cut down on cleaning time.

In our tests the j7+ was quick to pick up and remove dust dirt, pet hair and other particles. The rubber brushes that counter-rotate kept the debris in place, instead of scattering it across the floor. It even was able to capture sand and small gravel which other robots couldn't do. It did all this without getting tangled up in our pet's hair shed.

Although it's not as sophisticated as the $1,217 Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum, and it's not able to clean stairs, the J7+ is a solid option for those who require both mopping and a vacuum in their home. It's not costly and the iRobot App makes it easy to use.

The iRobot Home App is easy to use but we found it less reliable than other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a long time to download updates, and sometimes it's difficult to know whether the update actually working until you see it in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you want a robot vacuum cleaner that does more than simply clean your floors A hybrid is the best choice. This category of bots typically comes with a built-in tank for water, meaning they can both vacuum and mop your house simultaneously. These bots also have various additional features like smart mapping and small object avoidance and the capability to wash and dry mopping pads. The negative is that they can be pricey at full retail, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they often drop in price.

Roborock makes some of our top robot vacuums and the Q5+ is no exception. It's their most affordable auto-empty model, and while it lacks some of the premium features that are found on more expensive models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's a great option if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save hundreds of dollars.

The Q5+ is notably gentle around obstacles like tables and walls and walls, which makes it a great option for homes with a lot of furniture. It's also very thorough when it comes to cleaning dust bunnies, which is a problem which many robot vacuums often be a bit sloppy. The Q5+'s navigation is top-quality, with a few misses along walls or in corners.

The Q5+, as with other Roborock products, can be controlled by a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. The app allows you to start and stop cleaning. You can also set up schedules, create virtual barrier and no-go areas or modify your home map or re-label rooms.

If you choose the Q5+ model, it comes with a new auto emptying dock that is designed to make the robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver however, once it's in place, emptying the bin is done easily. It also features a large LCD display which is great to have when setting up schedules or altering settings. This isn't an essential feature for the majority of people however it will help you keep track of your robot's maintenance intervals effortlessly.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a sophisticated, well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of vacuuming and mopping. Its design and features are some of the top available however it's expensive.

It's a tiny base station that looks beautiful and can be hidden when not in use. The station's most appealing point is how it automates many tasks and functions that most other robots leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water, and then electrolyze and heat the water. Many other robots require this.

Its vacuuming performance is also impressive. It's the only robovac I've tested that does an excellent job of removing dirt from floors that aren't. It's also not as loud as the costly Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

But the Freo X Ultra has its faults, especially in terms of navigation. The laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as some other robovacs. This means it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain rooms or corners of your home. It's not able navigate stairs as well as competitors, and it doesn't have an dock that allows the user to set up a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great option for those looking for an automated vacuum that can do it all.

If you're looking to cut costs or aren't concerned about the limitations of the robot, there are many alternatives available. Many of the eufy models cost substantially less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for instance is less expensive however it comes with many more features, like stairs and a fully-function Dock, which provides the ability to provide a more thorough vacuuming experience on bare floors carpets, low-pile carpets, and even high-pile ones.

4. eufy RoboVac G30

Eufy is an Anker company with a long history of creating robot vacuums that offer the perfect balance of features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning on carpets and hard flooring, and a mopping function for a low cost. It's easy to set it up, just snap on one of the side brush and then turn it on. Then  cleaning robots  in your charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps required to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. You'll need to leave the dock close to a power outlet and enough space to allow it to move however.

The G30 is small, 2.85 inches tall to be exact, which means it will fit under many sofas and other furniture with low clearance. Its design is a little less ostentatious than some rival models, and features a sleek black finish and three buttons that are physical such as Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge and Spot Cleaning (which scrubs a space in an arc for two minutes). You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands to do routine cleaning tasks that are not scheduled.

The way the G30 cleans is what sets it apart from its rivals. It makes use of an integrated map to create an image of the unmovable objects in its path. It keeps track of the items it has cleaned and the areas it was unable to access. It then returns to the base to recharge and then continues cleaning the area it left.

The sleek G30 has its flaws however. The iRobot Roomba is better built and has lower recurring costs. It charges faster, has the same battery life and is more effective on bare carpet or floors with low pile. It has a larger dust bin, which does not require the same amount of emptying. It also comes with boundaries that prevent it from certain areas. The G30 on the other hand, is more affordable and much easier to maintain. Its smaller dust container doesn't require as frequent emptying and it has less trouble with heavy materials such as cereal.
